The holiday season is here and there are always so many fun things happening in Onslow County!  We hope you feel your freedom while exploring Onslow County during the most enchanting time of the year, from the countryside to our beautiful coast.  As always, enjoy the very special and unique sense of community that is wrapped in our rich military history and tradition.

Saturday, 11/11Swansboro By Candlelight
Get a head start on shopping in Downtown Swansboro. Enjoy apple cider as you walk along the streets lined with luminaries and entertainment. Be sure to stay for the lighting of the Christmas tree at Olde Towne Square. The festivities begin at 5 PM
.

Saturday, 11/18Jacksonville/Onslow County Christmas Holiday Parade
Get into the Christmas spirit as approximately 200 floats travel down Western Boulevard leading up to the arrival of Santa Claus. This year’s theme, Surf, Sand, and Santa, embraces the regions geographical features. The parade rolls at  9:45 AM starting at Coastal Carolina Community College to Brynn Marr.

Sunday, 11/18 thru Sunday, 11/19 15th Annual Festival of Trees
Step into a winter wonderland of creatively decorated Christmas trees, holiday displays showcasing community spirit, live entertainment, kids activities and more. The fundraiser benefits Onslow Caregivers.  The doors open at 10 AM on the 18th and 11 AM on the 19th. Visit www.hospiceonslownc.org/events for a list of everything to see.

Friday, 11/24 Swansboro Christmas Flotilla
Don’t miss this spectacular parade of lights from the White Oak River in Swansboro. The parade begins at dusk and remember, Santa Claus is sure to make his way on deck for a special visit!

Friday, 11/24 thru Saturday, 12/23Mike’s Farm Festival of Lights
Even if you weren’t one of the lucky parties to get reservations at the restaurant, there are still Christmas activities to embrace at Mike’s Farm. If you act quickly, you may still catch tickets to the Ho! Ho! Christmas Show! Regardless, we encourage taking a ride on the Festival of Lights Hayride. This 30-minute ride around the farm is accompanied by Christmas music and runs from Thanksgiving to December 23rd. There are encore presentations from December 26th to the 30th. The rides start at 6 PM nightly (weather permitting).

Friday, 12/1 thru Sunday, 12/3Jacksonville Winterfest
Don’t miss out on this family festive event taking place at Riverwalk Park in Downtown Jacksonville and Jacksonville Commons.  Enjoy sledding, ice skating, and snowball fights as you wait for Santa to arrive and the lighting of the Christmas tree.   At the same time, your loved ones can shop at the Arts and Crafts fair taking place inside the Jacksonville Commons gymnasium. 

Saturday, 12/9 MCCS Camp Lejeune Grand Prix Series Naughty & Nice 5K Run
Celebrate the holiday season with a fun and festive 5K.  The Naughty or Nice 5K is held aboard Camp Lejeune and takes place on a scenic route that begins at the Wallace Creek Fitness Center. Come dressed in your favorite holiday attire! So, which list will you be on? Register at www.mccslejeune-newriver.com/grandprix.

Saturday, 12/9Richlands Illuminated Christmas Parade
What’s Christmas without an illuminated parade? Enjoy the lighted floats as they travel throughout Richlands. The parade rolls at 5:30 PM. More information can be found at www.richlandsncchamber.com.
