The perfect spot to explore and learn about this region’s natural resources is in Sneads Ferry. Here, the Onslow County Environmental Education Center is home to “Discover Onslow” an exhibit that explores and interprets the county’s environment, including waterways, habitats, and wildlife. The exhibit displays a number of native animals, including a black bear, bobcat, and twelve-foot alligator!

Moving from gators to turtles is a natural, and the Turtle Factory is an excellent next stop. Here, in addition to a huge collection of nautical jewelry and gifts, ceramic painting is all the rage. Kids can paint ceramics and take home their very own creations!
